Joseph Fodera retired in 2006 as a 2nd Grade Detective with the City of New York Police Department. At the time of his retirement, he had been assigned for 9 years to the prestigious Gang Investigation Division and Gang Division Major Case Squad, where he initiated, conducted and oversaw the investigation of a number of very high profile and media sensitive investigations into several violent criminal street gangs operating throughout the City of New York and other localities. His investigations led to the apprehension, arrest and subsequent guilty pleas or convictions, resulting in terms of incarceration from multiple years to life without any chance of parole. The cases conducted were investigated in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Crimes Squad and prosecuted by the United State's Attorney's Office in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Many of these investigations reached across state lines and resulted in the successful conclusion to cold case homicides, attaining closure for the victim's families. Joe worked alongside law enforcement professionals and prosecutors from the NYPD, FBI, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, ICE, Homeland Security, U.S Marshals Office, Brooklyn District Attorney's Office and U.S. Attorney's Office

.In his role as a Detective with the NYPD, Joe Fodera was nominated for the National Association of Police Organizations (N.A.P.O.) TOP COP Award in October of 2001, and was invited to attend the award ceremony in Washington D.C.  Joe was also the recipient of the New York Police Department Centurion Foundation, the only monetary award permitted to be awarded to a member of the NYPD. Joe was promoted to the rank of Detective Investigator and Detective 2nd Grade at the express discretion of the NYPD Police Commissioner. Joe was also recognized for implementing the federal Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization (RICO) statute against criminal gang members, and has conducted training on this strategy to law enforcement officers across the nation and abroad and has been recognized as an expert in federal Racketeering and Criminal Enterprise law, and has been recognized and testified as a Gang Expert in local, state and federal court. 

In his capacity with the NYPD, Joe was also a First Responder during the September 11th, 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attacks, and worked for several months at the Ground Zero rescue and recovery operations, with the operations at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and also at the Staten Island Landfill crime scene and recovery operations. 

Joe has also achieved the designation of General Law Enforcement Topics Instructor from the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services and has lectured at the FBI Headquarters, World renown Criminal Investigations Course, NYPD Homicide Investigations School, and Queens County Bar Association. Joe has also been an Adjunct Professor at Westchester County Community College on Criminal Justice topics and also as a guest lecturer and advisor at Bryant and Stratton College regarding resume writing, interviewing and career skills, participating in a series of mock interviews each semester.

Subsequent to retiring, Joe was hired as the Director of Field Investigations for a private investigative firm operating in 5 states, and was responsible for managing the entire Investigative Division, encompassing all investigative work performed by a multitude of Field Investigators in each state, and a full office support staff. In this role, he was instrumental in building client satisfaction, increasing productivity, revenue and profitability. In this capacity Joe Fodera managed, conducted and oversaw work in a variety of fields, including Insurance Fraud, Corporate Investigations, Criminal Defense, Criminal Conspiracy, Racketeering, Criminal Enterprise, Workplace Violence, Employee Termination, Workplace injury and Employee Malfeasance. Joe was instrumental in achieving a successful bid for investigative services for the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) and managing and orchestrating all investigative efforts arising from the awarded contract.

Joe has amassed a network of highly qualified investigative contractors to whom he entrusts assigning some investigative work. If the work is not directly being performed by Joe, due to location or a specific required expertise and skillset, Joe manages all work, interacts with each client. directs all investigation and oversees all files. While employed with the NYPD, Joe founded the Worldwide Law Enforcement Consulting Group, Inc. along with several other retired law enforcement officers of varying ranks from within the NYPD. Worldwide Law Enforcement provided a number of specialized services to the law enforcement and security services community, including specialized training in a multitude of subject areas, including numerous large scale training seminars on topics such as CompStat, Homicide and Crime Scene Investigations and StreetCop 101. Joe continues to offer many of these and additional courses through a network of highly qualified instructors. Joe has taught courses to law enforcement officers from most states and several foreign countries, including Scotland Yard, the Philippines and Canada. Worldwide was contracted and instrumental in conducting a review of the Professional Standards Division of a major State Police Department, resulting in specific recommendations for improving internal investigations, ensuring proper compliance with local, state and federal law and improving the efficiency of the agency as a whole. 

Joe and his team continue to service his corporate clients, providing specialized Security Threat Assessment and Security Surveys to a variety of industries, from Hospitals to Educational Facilities, to Manufacturing Plants, and more. Joe and his team can also produce security policy and procedure, assist with security RFP's and formulate strategies to combat workplace violence and mitigate risk across any business enterprise. Our team of security consulting professionals have expertise far exceeding that of most other security service providers. Our consultants have conducted security surveys at most large buildings and facilities throughout the City of New York and at a number of other locations across the United States.
